The 5 Million For Change Campaign was created to mobilize a force of good that will sweep across the globe and create true sustainable CHANGE on every continent.

Tips For The Media

SEARCH our database for projects in your area. It's easy on the Search for a Project page.

Check out our Media Room for sample news releases.

You will probably be contacted by project leaders/participants. Please see the Get Publicity page to see what they may be requesting.

There are many angles you can use for stories. Following are some suggestions.

Prior to TWCCTW Day

  • Run stories about critical needs in your city or vicinity.
  • Highlight organizations that are meeting the above needs.
  • Share what TWCCTW Day is and what it does. Use the project ideas to create a how-to story for your audience so they can make a difference. Make sure they know that no project is too small or too large!
  • Report on projects that are being planned in your area (see the Search for a Project page)
  • Interview project leaders and volunteers.

Involve and challenge your readers

  • Use TWCCTW Day as a way to mobilize people in your community.
  • Challenge your readers to get involved with TWCCTW Day and refer them to this website to register projects, search for projects, and/or get ideas.
  • Remind readers that the needs from Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, the Asian Tsunami are all on-going. Inspire them to create on-going projects through TWCCTW Day to help meet those needs.

Start your own project - enhance your image

  • Use TWCCTW Day to start your own on-going project - refer your readers to join your efforts.
  • This will increase reader support and increase your presence in the community.
  • Gather other businesses or organizations to joint venture in the project with you - this is a win-win for all involved.

Celebrate the Projects

  • Since TWCCTW Day is monthly, it will be a great source of stories throughout the year.
  • Sponsor a local "hero" of the month utilizing the projects and stories you've published. Publicize their success stories and give them awards on behalf of the newspaper, TV, or radio station.

Dates

  • TWCCTW Day is the first Saturday of each month.
